it’s like a slightly dull child. not too quick on the uptake but occasionally surprises you with its, uh, whatever.

1. tonight at noon – the jam
2. spiral – pansy division
3. chromium – the church
4. I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself – the white stripes
5. just got to be – the black keys
6. nobody’s fault but mine (live) – jimmy page and the black crowes [note: veering dangerously close to 'BLUES HAMMER!!!' territory. see the film 'ghost world'][i miss bonzo]
7. Chains #3 – g. love and special sauce [okay, i guess it had to break down some time][somewhere around no. 5 or 6 of the top 10 worst band names in all recorded human history][sort of listenable]
8. everyday things – the plimsouls [good god, what basement vault did they find THAT in??!]
9. guns before butter – gang of four
10. recap modotti – fugazi

in other news, 12 people suffered continuous whiplash when a man, claiming to be the devil, hijacked a roller coaster. [that's vintage george carlin for you greenhorns]

Even though Bacharach wrote “I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself” I did not know this until recently. I had the song on an album by an Australian band back in the 80s known as The Photos and when I heard the White Stripes’ version, I was impressed because I thought they were covering The Photos — and who ever fucking heard of them before??

Then I read the album liner notes and credits and learned the truth. Boy, I feel so stupid sometimes.

Wow you like the Church! The song, Unguarded Moment is my very favorite by them and it will be a lifetime favorite. Same with the Mekon’s Unguarded Moment.

Right now I’m hooked on a Seattle band– The Cave Singers. Check them out. My favorite is Helen and it’s the song I play over and over as I walk around town. There’s just something about this band.

Oops, I didn’t mean to turn this into a plug or to tell you what to add to Pandora, which is not available in this country. I’d love to listen, though, you have great taste.

Eek no way to edit this. The Mekons song is Amnesia!
