scaring the shit out of kids on purpose

July 21, 2008 · 6 Comments

i have seen some dumb, mouth-breathing, trailer trash parents out in public in my day…in fact i saw one yesterday practically beating her 2 year old on the bus…but the dumbest thing of all is people bringing their kids to adult themed movies.

i went to see an extremely violent action film replete with foul language, graphic sex, and brutal violence – in short, a recipe for total entertainment in my book – and was shocked to see a couple with not only two toddlers who couldn’t have been more than 3 or 4 and an infant in arms! every time there was a huge explosion the baby shrieked in terror; every time somebody got shot in the forehead and their brains exploded out the back, one of the other kids said “daddy, what happened to the man?” or when a couple fucked with great realism on the screen they asked “mommy, what are those people doing?”

it would have been my civic and moral duty to go up to those people and say “get out of here. now. before i call CFS on your A-S-S.” what’s worse to my mind is that the theater management plainly didn’t give a rat’s ass.

which brings me to batman.

anybody who would take a kid under the age of 13 to see a batman movie IN GENERAL in the past, oh, 20 years, is stupid and deserves to be slapped with a two week old dead sturgeon.

anybody who would take a kid under the age of 13 to see ANY ACTION/ADVENTURE FILM OF THE PAST 20 YEARS with more than a G rating is stupid and deserves to have their head shoved in a toilet.

what, you thought maybe it was going to be all adam west camping it up and telling robin to buckle his seat belt?

fucking amateurs. my kid isn’t even going to get to watch television until she’s ten.

Great rant against stupid parents. I have nothing else to add, except if they can’t afford a babysitter, stay home!

YES!!! Oh, GAWD, how can people be so stupid and still successfully reproduce? I went to see LOTR and even though I deliberately picked the latest possible showings, parents were bringing their babies in. That is a hella scary movie even for an adult. Plus it’s LOOOOONG. I can understand taking your 15 or 16 y.o. kid. Anything younger than that and the parent should be beaten flat with a Bat o’Clue.

Nice post. I have a kid who got scared at *Curious George,* fer goodness sake. So I’m really conservative about this – just about the *only* way I’m conservative, in fact.

I remember a similar scene at the first X Files movie a decade ago (pre-kids, for me). You gotta wonder what’s happening with the new one.

Awesome…I have had a powerful lusting after the Dark Knight, yet due to the inability to find a responsible sucker, er, adult to watch my two year old, I wait…and wait still. I’m a see it, but I’m not about to drag my little guy to the local cineplex to see madness, mayhem, and general ass-kickery. There’s PLENTY of time for that…oh yes, plenty of time indeed.
